Next Friday is our theory and practice session where we'll look at strategies for making our painting even more appealing, from the impasto of Lucien Freud to the directional marks of Van Gogh we can experiment with techniques that suit our own painting style.
We will need a thin round brush for some of the hatching techniques, as well as broader brushes for blocking in.
We will also use these techniques later on when we concentrate on painting the whole figure in context rather than just concentrating on the face. Some museum websites have high definition images of paintings in their collections, which are really worth checking out to see the surprising detail behind the overall view!
