Service Description

This 10 week course will introduce you to the techniques used by figurative oil painters and the theory that lies behind them. We'll look at art-historical examples of master oil paintings to deconstruct what makes them so successful. We will move from examples through demonstrations and practice sketches to longer studies of still life objects and carefully chosen resource images which we will use for portrait and figure painting. By the end of the course you will have the skills and confidence to embark on your own oil painting projects and have developed a critical eye to see what makes paintings work.
